Hello!! Welcome back or welcome to my blog! In this blog post, we are going to be talking about the use of light in my film opener. As I've previously mentioned in past blogs, we plan to incorporate a lot of natural light along with saturated colors to really emphasize that fun, summery vibe. With that being said, we literally hit the jackpottt!! I remembered that my mom had bought LED, color-changing tripod lights for her online clothing business. Luckily, she agreed to let us use them for our film!

However, for the most part thus far, we have mostly been using natural light and since we shot some of our scenes during golden hour, we achieved the perfect amount of illumination and warmth. In fact, on the first day we shot one of our golden hour scenes, we literally had to FIGHT time to get the shot in time before the sun went down. We seriously drove around in circles to get the sun at the right angle...

-Lighting equipment only
On the other hand, when we did make use of our lighting equipment, we used it to illuminate our present day scenes, which conjure a more sad, cold vibe. We utilized motivated lighting and practical lighting to emphasize this feeling. For instance, in one of our scenes we showcase our main character Vale, taking down pictures from her LED fairy lights. These fairy lights add to the light in the scene- An example of our practical light. Additionally, in Marianas room, she has a window that casts the daylight throughout from the left side. We utilized this placement in this scene and set our light equipment in the same angle where this light usually comes through to accentuate this naturalness of this scene- An example of our motivated light. We also played around with the amount of light we used in this scene. We tried with the fairy lights only, then with only our light equipment .
