3.) Judging my peers ;)

I commented on my friends Mariana Van Brackel and Phi Le's blogs.

For Phi's, I felt her long shot was well done. The subject was easy to view and I also got a good sense of the setting of the shot. I also enjoyed the extreme close up. The details of he subjects eye were able to be seen as well as her emotion.

For Mariana's, I enjoyed her portrayal of a reaction shot. I was really able to get a good sense of the subjects emotions. In addition, the POV shot was well done. As a viewer, I got a good sense of the scene and felt like I was living in her perspective. Also the subject seems really cool and pretty and fun and awesome

2.) Practice!- Camera Shots and Angles

High Angle shot-

To achieve this shot I had my friend record me from the highest angle she could get. At first, it took a couple tries to get it high enough to tell it was a high angle shot. We also tried to shoot in a way where her feet weren't visible when she was walking, but that was hard to do. Overall, with this shot, I was trying to emphasize the smallness and simpleness of a person in comparison to a big scene of grass and nature.

 Extreme Close-Up-

For this clip, the shot was fairly easy to achieve, in fact, I was happy with the way the iPhone camera was able to pick up all of the small details of my eye. When shooting this shot, I tried to incorporate a small amount of the green leaves to tie in with the green colors in my eye.

Dolly Shot-

When filming this clip, I was a little bit worried about the steadiness of the camera. I wanted it to be smooth as if it wasn't being held by a person. I aimed for the shot to capture the location as well as draw viewers attention to the two people talking.

POV Shot-

To create this point of view shot, I had to hold my phone extremely close to my face as if it were my eyes. I wanted to show my perspective on a day-to-day. To emphasize this, I chose the action of greeting a friend with a hug to allow the audience to put themselves in that place with my POV.

Cameo shot/Close up-

This shot was fairly easy to achieve. This shot was close up and against a neutral background which was the school wall. I wanted to use a neutral background to have the viewers focus only on the subject. I used this shot to draw attention to details as well as read my(the subject) emotional state of mind.

1.) Where we begin

My name is Leah Antigua and I am a 10th grader attending Everglades High School. I am currently fifteen years old living in Miramar, FL, but I am originally from New Jersey and I have lived here for about eight years now. My family is from the Dominican Republic. My hobbies include painting, watching movies, and listening to music. I love animals and have one cat. I have always been passionate about being creative as well as helping people around me in any way I can. I love halloween, the fall season, and the beach.

I chose to take this course because I am very interest in film. As an avid movie watcher, I think it is important to be able to recognize and appreciate well-made films and intentional details. Learning about and dissecting camera angles/shots as well as music and scenery choices can allow for the mood of the audience to be more deeply affected. My older sister had also taken this course before me. Watching her final movie opener influenced me to take this class as it seems interesting and fun. To me, it is fascinating to learn about how technology, communication, and culture work together to affect society.
