Helloo! Welcome back or welcome to my blog!! In this post, I will be discussing my preparations for filming. I will be weighing out the easier tasks vs. the harder ones as well as go into a little more detail regarding mis en scene elements + my filming process.
Firstly, since I'm working by myself I do have a heavier work load to bear alone, but I actually tend to work really well alone, so this is an easier aspect rather than harder. I guess to preface, I'm not completely alone. I am utilizing my older sister Nola Antigua who took Media Studies a year prior as my only other actress besides myself. With that being said, she is very flexible to work with and takes direction very well, so when it comes to being in front of the camera, I anticipate that our characters dynamic will flow naturally reflecting our real life relationship.
On the flip side, I am more challenged by some other variables such as editing, camera quality, etc. When it comes to editing, I would say I am skilled at the basics. I plan to use IMovie as my editing platform --- IMovie is pretty easy to use and free, however I feel it lacks variety in things like transition options, special effects, and title options. For my movie, I worry that the plans I have in mind won't be fully fulfilled due to this. In addition, I am also using my Iphone as my camera for this project. I did plan to borrow some equipment from BECON TV, but due to extraneous hindering factors, I am not able to. With that being said, considering the video quality and stability, I do have to put forth extra effort into it looking professional and clear.
1.) Acting
- I include very few actors in my film with a wopping 2- Me and my sister Nola. My film has very minimal dialogue, so the acting mostly will shine through actions and dynamic rather than words.
2.) Costuming
- Costume wise, like I have previously mentioned in my Mood Board blog post, I plan to keep the characters clothes very casual and simple. Specifically, the main character played by me, Cleo, will wear darker colored clothes reflecting her timid, calm personality. The supporting character played by Nola, Juna- Rose, will wear lighter colored clothes to represent her bubbly, light-hearted personality.

3.) Props
- I plan to include few props in my film. I include a car as an intentional prop as well as a cell phone.
4.) Locations- My film showcases multiple locations. For instance, characters will be seen at the beach, in the car on the road, and at a cemetery .
5.) Dates and Times
- Due to my film showcasing scenes in the nighttime in addition to the day time, shooting can actually be done in the span of only one day. Despite this, I plan to separate shooting days depending on the time of day - Nighttime: 8pm-11pm, Daytime: 9am-2pm (the brightest time of day).
6.) Film equipment
- To film, I plan to only use my cell phone. I don't plan to shoot overly intricate scenes, so I don't require much equipment; I think most of the intricacy will be up to my editing. I do have a clip-on phone light that changes filters that could also be useful to me, but other than that, my equipment is kept to a minimum. Also, the style I want to achieve for my film does not require high quality picture, in fact, I'm plan to actually use the lower quality to my advantage.
