43.) What Could've Been...-Failed Ideas

Helloo!! Welcome back or welcome to my blog! Throughout the production of this project, I've been very transparent in our brainstorming process regarding ALL aspects of the film such as camera shots and angles, camera movement, sound, lighting, color scheme, mis en scene, and editing. My group and I love creative freedom, so we had so many different ideas - some simple, and some more challenging to achieve. In today's blog, I wanted to share with you all a couple of the ideas we had for our project that never got to be showcased...😔😔

1. Hotel Room Scenes

One of the scenes we were REALLY excited to capture was our hotel room sequence. As we attending the college trip, we wanted to get the most footage out of it as possible. We began to brainstorm ways we could achieve this, and we eventually landed on a sequence of the girls having fun in their hotel room putting on face masks, building a fort, and goofing around. In this scene, Nahomy had the idea of capturing a warm- lit arc shot underneath a blanket-fort of the girls laughing, giggling, and talking.

However, this scene was never brought to life for multiple reasons. For one, since we were in hotel room separated by gender and the only filmer we could ask was Jason, there was no way for us to achieve higher-level,  more intricate shots. Additionally, also, given the fact that the hotel rooms lighting and color scheme didn't exactly match what we envisioned for this scene ( we also brought no lighting equipment on the trip), the product most likely wouldn't have been up to par with our idea.

2. Picture Stacking
Another concept we failed to achieve was a picture-stacking sequence of the photos Mrs. Andrea took of us during the farewell party scene. For this concept, I had pitched the idea of a photo montage of the farewell party pictures stacking on the screen like scattered Polaroids.

Unfortunately, after sooo much trial and error, I had to declare this idea as a fail. It seemed as though this was easier said than done because when I went to attempt this idea in editing, it was very difficult! I tried through Capcut and through Canva, but both had limited options to create an animated sequence like this. It was very stressful😣😣.This montage was to supposed to take place right after the farewell party scene, but because it didn't end up working out, we decided to do the JustDance scene instead.
